CSCI E-180 Project 2 Philipp Hanes - hanes@fas.harvard.edu Ellen Jervis - ejervis@fas.harvard.edu USER DESCRIPTION ================ The user of this tool is pretty much anyone with an internet connection who has things to do and wants to keep track of them. The potential user (we'll call her Sue) would like to maintain a To-Do list that is accessible and modifiable from anywhere that has access to an Internet-connected computer. She can update this from home, from work, from a friend's place, etc. She'd also like to be able to keep her tasks private, both from itinerant crackers and snoopy system administrators. She likes the immediacy of the Ajax-powered drag-and-drop "Web 2.0" web sites these days, but also finds that dragging and dropping is kind of tedious on the touchpad of her laptop, so would appreciate a keyboard-based alternative. She buys into Stephen Covey's idea of the four quadrants of "Important and Urgent", "Important but Not Urgent", "Not Important but Urgent", and "Not Important and Not Urgent", as described in his "7 Habits" books, and feels it's worth categorizing her tasks that way. She also associates her tasks with the various different roles she plays in her life. In her job, Sue has to account on a very high level for her time, and be able to report back during her review process on what she's accomplished in her year since the last review. So she'd like to be able to keep track of tasks that she's finished, so she can summarize them when the time comes, and isn't stuck wondering what she was working on 10 months ago. This tool enables her to easily categorize her tasks across axes of Urgency and Importance, and filter out whatever areas are not of interest, or even just get an idea of where most of the tasks land. Each task is associated with a particular role, and tasks associated with each role can be hidden and displayed together, allowing further ability to focus and drill down into particular areas of her life. Since it's web-based, she can view and modify her list from anywhere that she can access the Internet.
